"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Most goals die alone.

Most solo goals are quietly abandoned within weeks. Streak apps count days, not growth. Without real people watching, your brain treats every goal as optional.

🪫

WILLPOWER RUNS OUT

Decision fatigue is real. Day 3 you skip "just once." Day 8 the app is buried in a folder. Day 14 it's deleted.

📉

STREAKS LIE

Checking a box for 60 days doesn't mean you grew. Most habit apps reward showing up, not what you did when you showed up.

🤫

PRIVATE GOALS QUIT EASY

When no one's watching, the cost of quitting is zero. Real change requires real witnesses.

Three steps of setup. Then the game is on.

No coaching, no nagging, no algorithm. Just structure, science, and people who care.

01

PICK YOUR CHALLENGE

Power Couple, Home Team, Friendly Fire for your crew, Young Legends for students, Solo Battle for just you, or The Daily Grind for work. All Access unlocks everything.

02

ADD YOUR PLAYERS

Names, colors, photos. Add each person's email and they get a sign-in link straight to your scoreboard, or start with just yourself and invite everyone later from inside the challenge.

03

SELECT YOUR TASKS

Build your list straight from the library, every idea research-backed and sorted by theme, or write your own under any theme. Set point values, tune day types (school days, vacations, work travel), then set the stakes.

04

THEN: COMPETE

Check off tasks daily and watch the live leaderboard. Label any day, School Day, Vacation, Work Travel, and your task list adapts to it. Talk trash in the group chat while an AI Commissioner calls the game. Set stakes that hurt to lose, or rewards that motivate the kids. Either way: everyone's watching.

Built on 50+ years of behavioral science.

Every task in Fortify maps back to peer-reviewed research on what actually changes human behavior.

Gottman · 1992

The 5:1 ratio

Healthy relationships, romantic, family, or friendships, have 5 positive interactions for every 1 negative. Real Talk, Trust Fund, and Prime Time tasks build that ratio at any age.

Gollwitzer · 1999

Implementation intentions

People are 2–3x more likely to follow through when they specify exactly when and where they'll do something. Every task is concrete.

Pew · CDC · 2025

Youth wellbeing

45% of teens say they spend too much time on social media. Kids with consistent daily routines have 40% better emotional regulation. The Young Legends library is built on this data.

Karlan · stickK

Commitment devices

Pre-committing to real stakes, or rewards, for younger players, dramatically increases follow-through. You set what's on the line; Fortify keeps it visible to everyone.

Bring Fortify to your people.

Fortify also runs as a benefit you give, to members, clients, employees, and students. You bring the community; we bring the engine, the scoreboard, and the Commissioner.

Gyms & Fitness Studios

Retention you can see on a leaderboard

Run member challenges that keep people walking back through your door, Sweat Equity, Dream Team, and custom tasks built around your programming.

Counseling & Coaching Practices

Between-session accountability

Assign habits in session, see real follow-through by the next one. Clients get structure and momentum; you get visibility that homework actually happened.

Workplaces & PEOs

A perk people actually use

Offer team challenges as a wellbeing benefit, or bundle Fortify into your PEO benefits stack as an included perk. The Daily Grind ships ready for 14 departments.

Schools & Youth Programs

Healthy habits, class-wide

Run Young Legends challenges for a classroom, team, or youth group, screen time, sleep, friendships, family, and focus, tuned to middle school, high school, or college. FERPA-aware school deployments available.

Questions, answered.

How is this different from a habit tracker?
Habit trackers measure if you showed up. Fortify measures what you did when you did. Every task is rooted in research, and unlike most habit apps, Fortify is built for groups. The accountability isn't from a streak counter, it's from people you actually know.
What's the Commissioner?
Every challenge comes with The Commissioner, a resident announcer who posts a daily bulletin on the standings, celebrates perfect days, and heckles whoever just lost the lead. The group chat includes a "Summon the Commissioner" button that generates a live AI bulletin from your actual scoreboard. Challenges that include kids get a Commissioner who only encourages, no heckling, ever.
What if my days aren't all the same?
They never are, so Fortify has day types. Open any of your days and label it: kids choose School Day, Summer, Vacation, or Weekend; adults choose Work Day, Weekend, Vacation, or Work Travel. The task list adapts on the spot, homework appears on school days and disappears all summer, a couples Work Travel day adds "text your partner a fond memory," a vacation day adds the romantic walk. Scoring follows whatever was actually on that day's list, and your day type never affects anyone else's board.
Can I do this with one other person, or completely alone?
Both. Two-person challenges are the sweet spot, people are 65% more likely to hit a goal when they commit to a peer, and 95% with a scheduled check-in (ASTD). And if it's just you, Solo Battle is you vs. the old you: same scoring, same cheat-day rules, with the AI Commissioner tracking your pace, calling your streaks, and noticing when you go quiet. An audience of one is still an audience.
What if I miss a day or fall behind?
Miss away. Streaks aren't the point, sustained pattern over weeks is. Cheat days and sick days are first-class features (you can mark a day "cheat" or "sick" without it hurting your score). Both are permanent once set, so use them when you mean them.
How long should a challenge be?
Research suggests 60–90 days for real behavior change, long enough for the new pattern to feel automatic, short enough to keep stakes meaningful. Most successful Fortify challenges run 60–84 days.
What kinds of stakes do people set?
Whatever makes you take it seriously. Couples: loser pays for the next vacation. Families: loser hosts dinner for a month. Friends: loser plans the next trip. Work teams: loser presents at the all-hands. Young Legends: set rewards instead, a movie night, an outing, choosing the family dinner. Commitment-device research (Dean Karlan's stickK studies) shows real consequences, or for kids real rewards, dramatically increase follow-through.
Is my data private?
Yes. Only you and the people in your challenge can see your progress. Your data is never sold or shared. You can delete your account and all data at any time.
What does it cost?
Two ways to get Fortify. Play free: every plan is free to play right now, no card, no catch. Through an organization: gyms, counseling and coaching practices, workplaces, and PEOs can license Fortify and give it to their members, clients, or employees as a benefit. Early individual users keep founding-member terms for life. Organizations: support@fortifychallenge.com.

PRIVACY POLICY
DRAFT, PREPARED FOR ATTORNEY REVIEW · Effective date: June 12, 2026 · Items in [brackets] must be completed before this document is final.

Who we are. Fortify ("Fortify," "we," "us") operates fortifychallenge.com, a habit-challenge service for individuals, families, friends, and teams. Legal entity: The Fortify Challenge, Pittsburgh, PA. Contact: support@fortifychallenge.com, Pittsburgh, PA.

What we collect

Account data: name or nickname, email, password (stored as a hash by our authentication provider), optional profile photo. Challenge data: challenges, tasks and points, daily check-offs, day labels (School Day, Vacation, and similar), cheat and sick day use, scores, prizes, and commitments you write. Messages: chat inside your challenge, visible only to its members, and questions you send our help assistant. Technical data: basic logs needed to run the service; if we add product analytics we will name the tool here.

How we use it

To run the product: scoreboards, invitations, notifications, the optional daily email digest, and the AI features below. We do not sell personal information, we do not run advertising, and we do not share personal information except with the service providers listed here.

AI features, disclosed plainly

The Commissioner and the help assistant are powered by Anthropic Claude models. To write bulletins, player first names or nicknames and challenge statistics (scores, check-off counts, day labels, prize text) are sent to Anthropic for processing. Help-chat questions are sent with our product documentation. Passwords, email addresses, and member-to-member chat history are not sent to the AI for bulletins.

Service providers

Supabase (database, authentication, realtime) · Netlify (hosting) · Resend (email) · Anthropic (AI processing as described).

Children’s privacy

Fortify is built for families and treats kids’ data with extra care. You must be 13 or older to create an account. Children under 13 participate only inside a challenge created and managed by a parent or guardian, who consents during setup and when sending invitations. For players under 13 we collect the minimum needed to play: a display name or nickname, an email a parent provides for sign-in, and challenge activity. We never use children’s data for marketing, never sell it, and never show ads. Parents may review, correct, or delete their child’s information, or withdraw consent, anytime via support@fortifychallenge.com; verified requests are honored within 30 days. School deployments are governed by a separate agreement consistent with FERPA. [ATTORNEY: confirm COPPA verifiable-consent mechanism.]

Wellness data note

Challenge activity may reflect lifestyle and wellness information you choose to track (sleep, exercise, and similar). Fortify is not a healthcare provider, is not medical care, and is not a HIPAA covered entity. Where state consumer-health-data laws apply (for example Washington’s My Health My Data Act), your consent at signup and challenge creation is how this data is collected and used, and the rights below apply.

Your rights

Access, correct, export, or delete your data, or close your account, by emailing support. Account deletion completes within 48 hours, backups within 30 days. Residents of states with privacy laws have the rights those laws provide through the same contact; we do not sell or "share" personal information as those laws define it.

Retention and security

We keep challenge data while your account is active so your history works. Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted with row-level security, and chat is visible only to members. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users of a breach as law requires.

Changes

Material changes get a new effective date here and email notice to account holders.

TERMS OF SERVICE
DRAFT, PREPARED FOR ATTORNEY REVIEW · Effective date: June 12, 2026 · Items in [brackets] must be completed before this document is final.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 to create an account. Children under 13 participate only through a challenge created and managed by their parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for their participation and provides the consents described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for your credentials and what you submit.

Not medical advice

Fortify provides habit structure and motivation for general wellness only. It is not medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and the Commissioner is an entertainment feature, not a clinician. Consult a qualified professional before changing health routines.

Your content and conduct

You own what you create and grant us the limited license needed to operate the service. You agree not to harass members, post unlawful or harmful content, upload content you lack rights to, probe or disrupt the service, or use Fortify to harm minors in any way. Chat is private to each challenge; we may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

AI features

Commissioner bulletins and help replies are AI-generated, can be wrong, and are provided as-is.

HELP & SUPPORT

🤖 ASK FORTIFY

Instant answers about invites, scoring, day types, anything Fortify. For account-specific problems, a human is one tap below.

Getting started: build a challenge in two minutes
Pick your challenge type (Power Couple, Home Team, Friendly Fire, Young Legends, Solo Battle, or The Daily Grind), add your players, then approve your tasks. We pre-fill a solid starter set on three quick screens, Daily, then Weekly, then Bonus; tap any task to edit the wording, change the points, add your own, or remove it. Keep it the same every day or set up day types, then set the stakes and go. You can also skip task picking entirely and choose together inside the challenge (Edit → Add a Task).
How invites work
When you build a challenge (or tap + Invite inside one), each person gets an email with a sign-in link from support@fortifychallenge.com. They sign up or log in with the same email the invite went to, and the invitation attaches to their account automatically. They land right on your scoreboard.
The invite email never arrived
First stop: spam and promotions folders. Still nothing? The challenge creator can open the challenge → + Invite → find the pending invite and use Copy Link, then send it by text or any app. The link works the same as the email. There is also a Resend button next to every pending invite.
The invite link took me to the homepage
No problem: just log in (or sign up) using the exact email address the invite was sent to. Pending invitations attach automatically the moment you sign in, and the challenge appears on your dashboard.
How scoring works
Your day score is your completion percentage of the daily and weekly tasks listed that day. If you also have Bonus tasks, your score is the average of your completion percentage and your bonus percentage. No bonus tasks selected? Then it is completion only, nothing is averaged in against you. Weekly tasks show every day but only need doing once per week, and the points count once.
Cheat days vs. sick days
A cheat day is a planned skip: you get a set number for the whole challenge (chosen at build). A sick / travel day is unlimited, for when life genuinely happens. Both work the same way mathematically: the day is removed from your possible points entirely, so it never drags your average down. The honor system is the system.
Why can't I edit yesterday?
Locking is the whole point. When you mark a day complete it seals permanently: no back-filling, no quiet edits, everyone can trust the scoreboard. If you forgot to check something off before locking, let it go. Tomorrow is loading.
Day types: school days, vacations, work travel
Open any of your days and give it a label. Challenges with kids get School Day, Summer Day, Vacation, and Weekend; adult plans get Work Day, Weekend, Vacation, and Work Travel. The day's task list adapts: day-type specials appear, and any core tasks you unticked for that day type at setup disappear. Labels are personal: your vacation day never changes a teammate's board.
Adding or editing tasks mid-challenge
The challenge creator can tap Edit inside the challenge to see every current task and rewrite its wording, change its points, or remove it, and to add new tasks from the full library (sorted by theme, including day-type specials) or write custom ones. New tasks start counting from the day they're added; edits and removals apply for everyone right away, and locked days stay locked.
Group chat and The Commissioner
Every challenge has a private Chat tab, members only. The Commissioner, our resident AI announcer, posts a daily bulletin, reacts to big moments, and can be summoned for a live bulletin built from your actual scoreboard. He speaks in your challenge's vibe (Intense, Playful, or Wholesome), goes encouraging-only when kids are in the challenge, and needs about 90 seconds between summons.
Notifications and the daily email digest
The 🔔 bell shows what your people have been up to: task check-offs, locked days, cheat days, chat, and new members. There is also an optional daily email digest, one email a day summarizing what you missed, sent only when something actually happened. Turn it on or off in Account → Notifications. Emails come from support@fortifychallenge.com.
Get the Fortify icon on your phone
On iPhone: open fortifychallenge.com in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. On Android: open it in Chrome, tap the menu (⋮), then Add to Home screen. You get the Fortify icon and it opens like an app.
Login and account help
Forgot your password? On the login screen, enter your email and tap "forgot password" for a reset link. Magic links expire quickly, so request a fresh one if it has been a while. Changing your email (Account → Profile) sends a confirmation to the new address, and the switch completes when you click it. "Keep me logged in" on the login screen keeps your session across restarts. Want your account and data deleted? Email support@fortifychallenge.com and it is handled within 48 hours.
Bonus tasks, explained
Bonus tasks are optional extra credit. They never hurt you: if you pick none, your score is pure completion percentage. If you do have them, your day score becomes the average of your completion percentage and your bonus percentage, so big bonus days can lift a rough day.
Editing your challenge: name, prize, vibe, tasks
Only the challenge creator can edit. Inside the challenge, tap Edit to change the name, prize, commitment, cheat-day count, or vibe (which also changes the Commissioner\'s voice), to rewrite, re-point, or remove any task, and to add new ones from the library or write custom. You can also flip the challenge into Review mode so invitees can read the whole thing, suggest changes in Chat, and accept before you finalize. Tasks added mid-challenge start counting from that day forward, never retroactively.
Point values: how they work
Every suggested task has a research-weighted point value, and you can edit any of them while picking tasks at build (tap the number). Custom tasks get whatever points you give them. Points are baked in when the challenge is created; tasks you add later carry their own values.
Inviting more people after the challenge starts
The creator can invite through roughly the first quarter of the challenge: open it, tap + Invite (top right), and add a name and email. They get a link to review and accept, with Copy Link and Resend buttons next to every pending invite (the link works even if email is slow). To keep standings fair, new members can't join once 25% of the days have passed. New members see the full scoreboard from their join day.
Privacy: who can see my challenge?
Only members. Your scoreboard, chat, tasks, prize, and day labels are visible to the people in your challenge and no one else. The Commissioner only reads your challenge\'s own data to write bulletins. We don\'t sell data, and deleting your account (email support@fortifychallenge.com) removes it.

Step 1 of 5

Who is this challenge for?

Choose your challenge type. This sets the structure, scoring, and who competes.

Why this matters: Your plan choice picks the task library. Each one is specialized, Power Couple gets Love Language and Raising the Bar; Home Team gets Chore Wars and Pet Project; The Daily Grind gets role-specific work tasks. The presets are starting points rooted in research. Write your own custom tasks to make it yours.
💑
POWER COUPLE
Two people. Competitive. High stakes. Built for partners holding each other to a higher standard. Includes Love Language, Pulling Your Weight, and Raising the Bar, points go to whoever initiates.
"6 years. That's how long the average couple waits before seeking help." · Gottman Institute
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
HOME TEAM

🥊
SOLO BATTLE
YOU VS. YOU
One player. No teammates to lean on, no rival to blame. Bet against the old you, the Commissioner tracks your pace and never misses a day.
"91 days. That's how long a habit actually takes. The Commissioner will be there for all of them."

THE DAILY GRIND

🎓
YOUNG LEGENDS
13+ · 1–8
For students, solo or a squad of friends. Pick middle school, high school, or college and your tasks are curated to that season in life and its struggles, school, friendships, family, mental health, social media, and more. Plus an optional relationship theme if you have a bf or gf.
"45% of teens say they spend too much time on social media." · Pew 2025 · Free forever, our gift to the youth.
Step 2 of 5

Who's competing?

Add everyone by name or nickname, that's what shows on the scoreboard. Tap the colored circle to change someone's color, or tap 📷 on yours to upload a profile photo.

Start small. Two committed people beats six lukewarm ones. Don't invite anyone who won't actually show up daily, the leaderboard exposes who's serious. Add an email and they'll get a sign-in link when you build, or leave it blank and invite them later from the challenge view (top right → + Invite).
Step 3 of 5

Pick your daily tasks.

A few small wins every day. These are pre-filled to get you going, tap any to edit the wording, change the points, or remove it.

Step 4 of 5

Same tasks every day?

The simplest setup, and the easiest way to build a streak. Tap Continue to keep it that way, or set up different day types below.

Almost there

📲 Put Fortify on your home screen

One tap to open it like a real app, no app store, and you'll actually remember to check in. Takes about 10 seconds. (You can do this anytime, it's optional.)

  1. Make sure you're in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow, at the bottom).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add. The Fortify icon lands on your home screen.
Step 5 of 5

Set the stakes.

Name your challenge, pick the length, choose a start date, and define what's on the line. Make it real.

The stakes are the secret. Commitment-device research (Dean Karlan's stickK studies) shows pre-committing to real, visible consequences multiplies follow-through. Vague stakes ("loser buys coffee") don't move you. Specific, visible stakes do ("loser cooks dinner every Sunday for a month"). For kids and teens, real rewards work the same way ("winner picks the weekend activity"). Make it specific. Make it matter.
Leave blank and we'll name it after the players, or hit 🎲 until one makes you grin.
skip days · auto: 3
Number of personal/cheat days each person can use during the challenge. Leave blank for auto (1 per 10 days, min 2). Sick or travel days are always unlimited and separate from this.
The Rules, confirm before you build:
  • Daily tasks reset every day. Check them off as you do them.
  • Weekly tasks are checked off on today's card; once done, they count for the whole week and show crossed-off on the other days.
  • Bonus tasks are optional extra credit, available every day.
  • Day types: inside the challenge, you can label any of your days (school, vacation, work travel, weekend...) and that day's tasks adapt automatically.
  • The task library is specialized to your plan, and you can always write your own. Power Couple gets Love Language + Raising the Bar, Home Team gets Chore Wars + Pet Project (and stays kid-safe for younger players), The Daily Grind gets role-specific work tasks.
  • Cheat days let you skip a day without penalty. You set the count above. Permanent, can't be undone.
  • Sick/travel days are unlimited and don't count against your score. Permanent, can't be undone.
  • Mark Complete on a day locks it and seals it. Can't edit task check-marks after. Permanent, can't be undone.
  • Editing mid-challenge: the creator can change the name, prize, commitment, and cheat days anytime via the Edit button.
  • Score is the average of your completion % and your bonus %. (If you don't pick any bonus tasks, it's simply your completion %.)
